The Zoom Hearing was June 3, 2020.
-This is the newspaper’s last chance to dismiss my defamation suit against them
-The Judge, the newspaper’s lawyers, the news editor and I are in the room.
We had all been listening to the senior lawyer, to his monotonous repetitions, the same legal jargon, over & over. Suddenly I heard the Judge say, ‘When this article was written … “Dr. P****** had not been determined to be guilty of anything, so how can there be a victim?”.
‘Are you actually trying to argue that there is no social approbation in your dramatization of the indictment?’
I was on the edge of my seat and loving every minute. Finally, someone was asking my questions for me.
